What is a FIBC

  • A FIBC is a flexible container, sometimes called a “big bag” or “bulk bag”, with a capacity up to 3 cubic meters, carrying loads from half a ton to 2 tons.
  • FIBCs are suitable for any free-flowing material in powder, granular or flake form.
  • They are lifted by conventional handling equipment such as forklift trucks and cranes.
  • They are the most cost-effective packaging and transport unit load system of all, they require no secondary packaging or pallets.

ELECTROSTATIC PROPERTIES

In order to avoid accidents caused by any type of electrostatic discharges which may occur filling or the discharging of the Big Bag, Conductive Big Bag should be used.

These FIBC's (also known as "Type C Bags") have interwoven conductive threads which are all reliably interconnected and MUST BE GROUNDED. Dangerous static charge is safely dissipated to ground.Type C bags do not cause any discharges. But the most important condition is a reliable connection to ground during filling and emptying operations. To perevent grounding errors, Type C bags are additionally equipped with conductive loops in order to achieve contact to the hoist system, providing it has a path to ground

CODING SYSTEM FOR UN BIG BAGS

UN Big Bags are designed for the transport of hazardous goods. The bags must pass the UN requirements and product tests in relation to dropping and tearing etc.
